Magsafe (Macbook)
MagSafe chargers for your MacBook
The MagSafe for MacBooks: The AC Adapter was introduced on January 10, 2006, along with the MacBook Pro at Macworld Expo. It was installed in the MacBook Pro from 2006 to 2015, in the MacBook Air from 2008 to 2017 and in MacBook models from 2006 to 2011. From June 2012, Apple installed a connector called MagSafe 2, which is longer at the connecting surface but narrower (and therefore flatter) in order to be able to reduce the thickness of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. These two types are - purely geometrically - not compatible. With the renewal of the MacBook Pro in October 2016, the MagSafe connection was also replaced by USB-C, whereby the protection against tripping is no longer provided. It was not until October 2021 that a series with MagSafe was presented again with the MacBook Pros with M1 Pro and M1 Max Chips.
